First Day at Gearbox

Today I started working at Gearbox Studios in McMinnville. Starting a new job always feels like a roll of the dice. I haven’t met everyone, but the folks I did meet are professional and kind. They know how to work and focus on getting things done, and it’s not even close to an Office Space nightmare.

While I’m no expert in local working environments, I have been around working both hourly and contracted jobs. Most of the bad employers I’ve been involved with have an arrogant and ignorant aura, and eventually you end up saying to yourself “I don’t want to help them.” Gearbox isn’t that way. If I bring up an idea that isn’t right or not in their best interest, they return the courtesy of telling me why in a way that gives me a better understanding, which makes me more likely to provide helpful solutions later.

Working for an employer that respects you makes you respect them more. It’s nice to work for someone who has an open ear and mind. Naturally my camera stopped working right when I needed it, but they’ve got some cool stuff I was gonna grab pictures of.
