In the past we’ve kept our political opinions off this site, because we didn’t want it to interfere with our business. With the political climate we live in today we think it’s important to represent what you think is right in a sea of wrong. In the past I had started a Facebook group with some other members of Santiance involving Oregon Sovereignty in support of a bill that never got out of committee.
Bryce from The Tenth Amendment Center contacted me with some information about their State Pledge. We’re going to be doing everything we can to help support this, and I’ll have more information on how others in Oregon can get involved as we coordinate with everyone “above us.” It’s not clear where we’re going to be organizing, either on a Santiance sponsered site or something hosted by The Tenth Amendment Center. It may warrant a new domain all together, which would be hosted by us. Either way it looks like I’ll be helping them coordinate their efforts in Oregon.
It’s also worth noting that there is another project that I’ve been waiting to talk about. It makes data about business records in Oregon publicly available for free. Currently the State charges a $50 monthly fee for a CD with new business listings. This is a few kilobytes of data, of which the entire database can easily fit on a CD. They also offer to e-mail this for the same $50 fee. This is excessive, and we’re able to provide this data easily to the public for free at no cost to us. Keep an eye on newlists.info, as it should be operational in the near future with the Oregon beta. I’ve done some looking into how California operates as well, and there is a solution there too.
